JAIIB / CAIIB Certification exam, Study plan & Strategy ?

JAIIB and CAIIB are flagship Certification programs offered by IIBF for banking / financial professionals. All the leading Banks and Financial institutions such as RBI, NABARD, and SEBI are providing additional basic salary increments to employee having JAIIB and CAIIB Certifications. JAIIB and CAIIB are also used as one of the parameters for promotions, candidates may appear sooner in promotion examinations, once they are passed and having certification of JAIIB and CAIIB. These Certification programs are designed to inculcate required Banking / Financial awareness among professionals for making them efficient in work.

JAIIB Certification:

JAIIB aims at facilitating basic level knowledge in banking and financial services to all banking professionals, which comprising of Banking technology, customer relations, basic accountancy and legal aspects necessary for carrying out day to day banking operations.

Examination Structure:

Eligibility for JAIIB Certificate Examination:

(i) The examination is open only to the ordinary members of the Institute (Any person working in the banking and finance industry whose employer is an Institutional member of the institute can apply for membership, for details visit IIBF website).

(ii) Candidates must have passed the 12th standard examination in any discipline or its equivalent. The Institute may, however at its discretion, allow any candidate from clerical or supervisory staff cadre of banks to appear at the examination on the recommendation of the Manager of the bank/ officer-in-charge of the bank’s office where the candidate is working, even if he/ she is not 12th standard pass or its equivalent.

(iii) Subordinate staff of recognized Banking/ Financial Institutions in India, who are members of the Institute, are eligible to appear at the examination, provided they have passed the 12th standard examination or its equivalent.

Passing Criteria:

  1. Minimum marks for pass in the subject is 50 out of 100.
  2. Candidates securing at least 45 marks in each subject with an aggregate of 50% marks in all subjects of examination in a single attempt will also be declared as having completed the Examination.
  3. Candidates will be allowed to retain credits for the subject they have passed in an attempt till the expiry of the time limit for passing the examination as mentioned below:

Time Limit for Passing the Examination:

  1. Candidates will be required to pass the examination within a time limit of 2 years (i.e. 4 consecutive attempts).
  2. Candidates not able to pass examination within stipulated time period of two years are required to re-enroll themselves afresh. Such candidates will not be granted credit/s for subject/s passed, if any, earlier.
  3. Time limit of 2 years will start from the date of application for first attempt. Attempts will be counted irrespective of whether a candidate appears for any examination or otherwise.

CAIIB Certification:

CAIIB aims at facilitating advanced knowledge necessary for better decision making covering Treasury Management, Risk Management, Balance Sheet Management, Credit Management, International Banking, Economic Analysis etc.

Eligibility for CAIIB Certificate Examination:

Members you have completed JAIIB or PART-1 of the Associate Examination, and their membership subscription should not be in arrears.

Note: There is no exemption in any of the above subject/s for prior qualification/s. The Institute has introduced electives to give opportunities for candidates to specialize in the vertical of their choice. Candidates may choose the elective in the area they are currently working or in the area they would like to work in future. It is suggested that the candidates may choose the elective in the area they are currently working and later move to other elective as this will enable appropriate skills/ build up for handling different banking verticals.
