Banking and financial sectors are full of opportunities for job seekers and also are one of the largest job providers in our country for graduates. India is one of the fastest growing developing countries in the world and banking sector is back-bone of our economy. It is also evident that despite of financial turmoil of global markets in recent years, Indian banking sector is evolved as robust and resilient enough to absorb theses shocks and transformed itself into one of the fastest growing industry vertical in our country.

Genesis of differential banking institutions such as small finance banks, payments banks and fin-tech institutions by RBI has paved way for more banking jobs opportunities.

Why is banking sector attractive and what are the different role / profile opportunities available?

Banking sector is one of the fastest growing industries in our country and offering differential profiles of work with lucrative compensation package (CTC). One could develop his or her career in one of the domains such as Auditor, Actuarial, wealth manager, Investment banking, Customer relationship, Public relationship, B2C selling, B2B selling, insurance, regulator etc. in banking sector and could reach higher echelons of institution.

How one could join and build his or her career in banking sector?

There are three level in any banking or financial institution known as top management, middle management and junior management or work-force of institution. If you want to pursue your career in banking sector, professional courses such as MBA finance, Charted accountancy, graduates in mathematics and commerce are highly recommended along with certification courses (CFA, FRM, JAIIB & CAIIB).

But if you are graduates irrespective of your stream could also apply for junior management opportunities and could reach to top management of banking institutions. IBPS / SBI / Regional Rural banks / Private Banks / Insurance companies/ Mutual funds are conducting entry level entrance test every year for junior management.

IBPS and SBI conduct probationary officer (PO) or officer scale I, Clerical cadre entrance examinations and recruit large no of junior level officers in their organizations. RBI, SEBI, IRDA also recruit aspirants for regulatory works in middle / junior management (managers, assistant manager and assistants).

Banking entrance examinations have become toughest to crack with growing competition and most favoured job opportunities among job aspirants. But one could be successful in entrance tests with proper planning and effective study plan.
